On occassion, you may find the need for a great frosting. This standby is something I’ve made since the 70’s. It is easy and delicious and loaded with calories. But…for a special occassion, worth it.

Maralyn’s Buttercream Frosting (Easy Alternative)
Ingredients:1 pound butter (or 1/2 pound butter and 1/2 pound margarine)
1 pound powdered sugar
1 egg
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon rum

Directions:
• Put butter in mixer and beat for 10 minutes – no short cut unless you use a food processor and then you would mix 3 or 4 minutes.
• Add powdered sugar and beat for 10 more minutes.
• Add egg, vanilla and rum and beat for another 10 minutes.

You’re done.

Note: I know it seems like a long time to beat the frosting, but, it makes a difference.
