The Hill Team recently had the opportunity to share some Trapiche wine from Mendoza, Argentina. We are by no means wine experts, we just go but what tastes good to us and we enjoy.

Even though we’ve had Argentine wines before, none of us had experienced Trapiche. We had the 2008 Chardonnay, 2007 Oak Case Pinot Noir and 2007 Oak Case Chardonnay. A hint of oak was evident and the 2008 Chardonnay was crisp and light.
We paired the 2008 Chardonnay with chicken breasts, the 2007 with a pasta with a with 1/2 cup of the wine topped with a mushroom ragu and the Pinot Noir with Salmon. It would have also paired well with steak or chicken.
It was interesting to discover the history of Tapiche started in 1883 in the region of Mendoza. The winery as well as the people of the area have succeeded in honoring their history and combining it with the latest technology. This was the first winery in Argentina to import and use French and American Oak barrels and the first winery in Argentina to export wine.
All three of us thoroughly enjoyed this tasting and estimated the wine to cost more than we discovered when we looked it up on line. What a delight to discover a wine that’s delicious and affordable. This wine is availabe at private wine stores as well as wholesale stores–whatever your pleasure.
Please let us know if you try it and your opinion.
Cheers!
