On the first warm days of spring, our thirsty taste buds long for a tropical libation.

This is a Hawaii punch type recipe (nothing like the red one that comes in a can) we made up on the garden island of Kauai.

We named it – Luau Liquid Love.

Ingredients – for one cocktail, but more fun to double or triple it for two.
1 part pineapple juice, fresh if you are in Hawaii or can find it
1 part passion fruit juice
1 part guava juice
1 part silver or white rum – we like l51 proof
Method
Mix together in a pitcher, then pour in a tall glass over ice.

Optional garnish – pineapple spear, sprig of mint. Some like a cherry and a paper umbrella. We tried a basil sprig and found it interesting.

Tips
The Hill team turns this tropical treat into a more festive occasion by adding a topper – a few splashes – of sparkling water, or sparkling wine.

We usually devour fresh fish in Hawaii, however this is a perfect drink to pair with roast pork.
