Every year, I used to do a huge party. This is a standby that has stood the test of time. On the occasion when I would leave it out, guests would state their disappointment. So, it is something I still make and has aged well.

Hot Crab & Clam Dip

Ingredients:
2 8-Ounce packages cream cheese
1 Can crab meat or 8 ounces frozen crab meat
1/4 Cup salad dressing (mayo)
4 Tbs butter
1 Can minced clams
1/2 Cup Sauterne or similar white wine
Worcestershire and Tabasco – a dash of each

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients.
  • Simmer at least 2 hours.
  • Serve with chunks of bread, crackers, vegetables or pita slices.

Enjoy!

This is great and simple as you said. I substituted 3 live blue crabs I caught myself. Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed. An old but great recipe and how much better with fresh blue crabs.

What perfect timing. We are off to a neighborhood
appitzer party tonight. This is an easy and delicious
dish to bring. I didn’t catch the crabs like Tim, but found fresh ones
    at my local Farmhouse Market.

Thanks Brenda. I had to re-publish this as someone on FoodBuzz was trying to get on the old link on Blogger and it wouldn’t come up. But, the time certainly was perfect. It’s been a favorite so many years I don’t want to count.
