American in Paris–A New York style cocktail with a French twist.

This cocktail caught my eye in Living Magazine just before Maralyn and I went to France earlier this year. I enjoy the tastes and aromas of bourbon and creme de cassis, a black current liqueur. This one tastes like a Manhattan with a French twist. I serve this drink with salted nuts.

The innovative restaurant, Le Bec, in Lyon, France, has a knowledgable bar staff. They know how to make this classic Manhattan inspired cocktail in their sexy top floor bar.

Ingredients

1 1/2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce creme de cassis
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Method

In a cocktail shaker, add the ingredients, ice cubes and shake.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Le Bec garnished with a lemon slice, or try a cherry, if you prefer.
