This tasty shake first appeared in our book, Our Love Affairs with Food and Travel. Besides covering many well known chefs world-wide, we featured my chef daughter, Robin, son, Matthew and Maralyn’s daughter, Lindsay, a great cook. This is Matt’s’ super simple date shake. This cold drink is perfect for a warm summer day for breakfast, lunch or a healthful pick me up any time of day.

Matt’s Super Simple Date Shake

Ingredients

1/2 cup fresh pitted dates

1 cup of milk

3 cups vanilla frozen yogurt

Method

Blend until smooth.

Note:

I like leaving a few dates chunky to add texture to my shake.

I found that skim, low fat or whole milk tastes about the same, so why not save some calories.

I have not tried it, but I am sure you could experiment by adding nuts or substitute figs.
