Geiers

This is time of year that the Hill Team enjoys being in Switzerland and Germany. If you aren’t traveling to these fascinating countries in late September, you can  probably find a genuine Oktoberfest somewhere near by.

I will be in San Diego for the month of September, and will send news about the traditional California celebrations. I may even fly back early, because Geier’s Sausage Kitchen in Sarasota does it best, just as I remember the music, food and fun in Zurich and Munich.
Beginning at 11:00 on September 27Th you will enjoy live German music, bratwurst or knockwurst on the grill, with all of the traditional trimmings, such as baked beans and sauerkraut. There is even one hearty free beer for adults! This year’s 3 day event honors 30 years of Oktoberfest at Geier’s..
Just go to 7447. S. Tamiami Trail and look for signs to the large tent behind the market.

Go early as it gets very busy as the day goes by.
Phone 941-923-3004 for more information or to place an order for their genuine German specialties.
I feast on their homemade sausages, wursts, smokey bacon and stuffed pork chops every week. They also feature breakfast, lunch, special Saturday barbeque’s on an outside patio. I am there so often that the friendly owners and staff have nick-named me Heidi!
