We were scheduled to dock in San Juan. Unfortunately, due to rough seas, it was too dangerous to go through the channel to the port. Even though it was windy outside, we had smooth sailing inside. Yes, there was disappointment for many due to missing a port. But, that is the nature of cruising. We’ve been cruising for many years, and have only been diverted two other times. I’d rather have a safe captain, than a poor choice.

The crew scrambled to fill up the activities for the day and evening providing all the guests with plenty of choices and topped off our dinner with complimentary champagne. Now, we are on our way to St. Thomas. Even though we will get off the ship briefly, it will be a spa day for us and we sure are looking forward to it.

Instead of a specialty restaurant, we enjoyed all three meals in the Rembrandt Dining Room. We both like the opportunity to meet new and interesting cruisers.  One couple was from Rotterdam and very proud of their grandson who was working on the ship. Tonight’s dinner we met a lovely couple that lives only 75 miles away from us. The variety of cruisers always interests us and we enjoy sharing experiences and stories.

This afternoon, Maralyn took a nap while the avid reader Norm finished another book.

Day 5 was in St. Thomas, which is always a great port to visit.

We are anxious to share our spa experience, as the facility is fantastic. So day five was wonderful and the spa deserves its own article.

Our dinner was equally outstanding at Le Cirque and will have its own feature.

Today is a sea day, so it will be relaxing and time to read.
