Author Karina Ann Betlem’s Cookbook “From the Kitchens of Pancho Villa” Teaches the Handed-down Secrets of Local Mexican Cooks
PANCHO VILLA, MX – Written in support of the hardworking and compassionate people of Colonia Pancho Villa comes Betlem’s delicious selection of recipes representing the history and flavor of Mexico.
From the Kitchens of Pancho Villa details simple Mexican meals as presented by 17 residents of Colonia Pancho Villa, a poor area of Mazatlán, Mexico. Betlem has created a totally unique and entertaining book. To call it strictly a cookbook does an injustice to both the book and the author.
From the Kitchens of Pancho Villa is easy to follow and most enjoyable to read. Each section begins with an entertaining biography of the cook, followed by several of their recipes. The author’s insightful hints and tips, her injections of humor and the background stories for each of the recipes makes this a one-of-a-kind cookbook.
About the author: Karina Betlem moved from Bellingham, Washington to Mexico in 2009. She and her husband grew to love Mexico and it’s people during many years of traveling and vacationing there. Seeing the plight of many poor Mexican families, she decided to write her first cookbook, “From the Kitchens of Pancho Villa”, to help support these hard working and caring people. She and her husband are very active at the local animal shelter and often have foster dogs in their home where they live with their own two dogs, Salsa and Tango.
