Jamie’s mulled wine

It’s very easy to make it and it has a delightful taste. Put cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon in a pot together with the wine. If there are other spices that you love very much, you can add them too. Then let all the ingredients warm up, so that the flavours of all of them can mix up with the wine. When it’s ready, you may leave it tick on a low heat, so that it’s always ready to serve when new guests come in.

Gluhwein (Mulled wine)

The ingredients you need for this recipe are half a cup of water, half a cup of sugar, cloves, cinnmon sticks, orange and a bottle of red wine. Mix everything together in a big pot (squeeze the orange and add the juice in the mix). Heat it for about 15minutes but don’t boil. Serve in preheated mugs.

The Oxford Bishop’s 19th C spiced mulled port wine

As the name sounds very complicated, the recipe itself isn’t so. You need the juice of one orange, 16 cloves, brown sugar, cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ginger, water, a whole orange and wine. Preheat the oven to 200 C and place the cloves and the orange which is cut in halves. Bake for about 15 minutes and at the same time boil the rest of the ingredients, without the orange juice. When you’re ready, add the baked orange halves in the pan and the orange juice but make sure you only heat it without boiling it this time. This recipe is enough for about six people. Serve in a big punch bowl with the orange halves in.
