Hotels are usually decorated lovely for the holidays and the Omni Shoreham in Washington D. C. was no exception. We were there for a meeting while they had two hallways and the lobby full of trees to be auctioned. We were also there to watch the trees be wrapped and rolled out for delivery. Even though we missed the trees the last two nights of our six night stay, we still enjoyed the festive decorations in the lobby. I had every intention of putting this up as a video for you showing close ups of many of the trees, but since I was using a new program, I gave out before the video was completed.

Video accomplished!

On our way back from Washington D.C. we were able to stop in St. Louis and see John and Bucky Pizzarelli at the Jazz Bistro in St. Louis. What a treat. We’ve seen him preform before, but it was great to see him play with his father.

In any case, what I really wanted was to wish you all a wonderful holiday season. For those who follow Where and What in the World on a regular basis, you are appreciated.

This has been a busy year for Norm and me. In addition to doing some ghost recipe editing for the New York Times food section, I’m executive editor of Luxe Beat Magazine which launched in November. Norm is doing more business writing, as well as travel writing and we are both still actively consulting.

The people we meet along the way bring so much to our life and continue to encourage us to travel more.

This year I’ve encouraged more or you to submit posts to Where and What in the World via our submission page. If you would like to share your travel stories or tips, or special recipes for food related topics, we would enjoy having you contribute. I’ve always enjoyed providing others with a new audience for their work or encourage those just breaking into writing. Thank you to those of you who have contributed.  Please remember, it is important to do it via our submission page. You can upload photos that way, include info on yourself and a link.

With 2014 close, I hope the rest of your holiday season is wonderful.

Merry Everything, Happy Always,

Maralyn D. Hill
