The  Black Forest Beer Festival held in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, was a delightful and delectable success

La Cruz is a small, tranquil, old fishing village, north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This picturesque and safe harbor features an excellent marina for boaters on the Bay of Banderas.

Over a hundred neighbors, locals, visitors, and cruisers enjoyed an international beer tasting and  authentic German cuisine at Black Forest on Tuesday 2/10/15. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Mexico.

By sunset, on this balmy evening in Banderas Bay, the co-owners of the popular Black Forest Restaurant, Andrea and Yvonne, were welcoming guests and setting up additional tables on Marlin Street.

Folks from 3 weeks old to over 90 years enjoyed the warm ambiance of old Germany in the charming village setting. The atmosphere is tranquil and elegant, while friendly and casual, at the same time. I always feel like a special invited guest in someone’s family home at Black Forest.

Specialty craft beers from Germany, Mexico, Belgium,  and Estonia were tasted and rated by beer lovers from around the world. Our table devoured delectable Jagerschniizel, bratwurst and tender rouladen, with traditional tasty trimmings of red cabbage, sauerkraut, dumplings, creamy mashed potatoes and the best beer gravy ever. We especially enjoyed Chef Winfried’s spatzle enhanced with butter, onions and bacon. She has way of enhancing every flavor in all of her unique dishes made with love and passion. Black Forest has been delighting international food lovers since 1998.
