It has taken many years for the divide in political attitudes to change and align between Eastern and Western Europe. However, even with the political divide having vanished there remains some huge cultural differences. Eastern Europe is an incredibly diverse destination; it covers the coldness of the countries in the North, which reach towards the arctic and the warmth of the southern destinations, some of which enjoy Mediterranean climates all year round.

Many of the places in Eastern Europe are rich in culture and have a huge amount of history combined with some of the most beautiful views in the world. The following places may not be your first thought when considering a honeymoon destination but they will be an excellent choice and provide memories which will last a lifetime:

Greece

Greece is possibly most famous for its beaches, but there is also a huge mountainous region which has some to offer any couple. Enthusiastic trekkers or those who enjoy a gentle stroll can find a challenge suitable to their ability and desires. There are also some impressive ski resorts and the prices are currently the cheapest in Europe. Greece is renowned for wet winters and long, hot and dry summers.

Poland

Krakow is considered to be the cultural capital of Poland and it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a vibrant, bustling town with a fascinating history and collection of architectural styles. The Amber coast is also a desirable destination, it literally has amber present which is mined and used for creating jewels by the locals. It also has stunning white beaches and calm, deep blue seas. The entire country has areas of outstanding beauty; from its vast forests to its magnificent lakes.

Slovenia

Although this is one of the smallest countries in Europe, Slovenia is also considered to be one of the most beautiful. It is a fantastic destination for any couple who enjoy hiking, with regular stops to enjoy the thermal baths. There are many excursions available but one of the best is a visit to Lake Bled; a historical, tropical castle and abundant vineyards. There are over one hundred castles to visit and many vineyards. It is one of the greenest countries in Europe and the most bio-diverse in the world. Alongside the impressive museums sit several bustling towns, full of a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.  It is one place that all honeymooners should visit.

Czech Republic

The country is known for its sandstone mountains and no holiday here would be complete without a visit to them and a trek through them. To add to the romance it is essential to hire a boat and enjoy Lake Sazava, it is a brief respite from the bustling, metropolitan cities. There is also an abundance of cheap downhill ski slopes to choose from and try; whether you are a novice or an expert. The country is usually hot in the summer and snowy in the winter.

Crotia

Croatia borders the Adriatic Sea and here, you will find over one thousand islands. Many of these islands are populated, even if only by one person! The sight of these islands is both awe inspiring and humbling. There are an abundance of fishing villages and even some beach resorts to allow you the best choice of venue for your honeymoon. The climate is definitely Mediterranean and visitors can enjoy hot summers or warm, wet winters. Whilst it is possible to hike around the coast or participate in water sports it can also be the ideal destination for those who are simply looking to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Whichever spot you choose you will not be disappointed by the charm, charisma and cultural differences offered by these Eastern European destinations. Your honeymoon really will be an experience of a lifetime! What’s great about Eastern Europe is that it is affordable. Most vacations won’t cost you more than 500 Euros for 7 days. The places are surreal and varied, the people are welcoming and kind, and ultimately, the weather is absolutely gorgeous. Whether you’d like to see Greece or you’d rather visit beautiful Croatia, there’s no doubt that the destinations will leave you speechless.
