TASMANIAN PRIDE: PREMIUM TASSIE GIFTS FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Tasmania’s premier bi-lingual (English/Chinese) online shopping portal – TASSIE PURE – has expanded from the world of retail and jumped into the burgeoning business events market, offering a range of premium gifts for discerning corporate clients.

Tired of seeing delegates to the Apple Isle presented with foreign-made, generic and uninspired conference gifts, Tassie Pure has stepped up to provide the MICE sector with a much-needed offering: tailor-made gifts sets featuring 100% Tasmanian products.

And there is no shortage of people to cater for, with Tasmania’s business event sector contributing A$132 million to the state’s economy in 2015 and visiting delegate numbers growing steadily, up 42 per cent from the previous year. The high-yield business events market is just part of a general tourism boom that is seeing Tassie invest heavily in infrastructure, from a Hobart airport expansion and wharf re-development to Cradle Mountain upgrade and state-wide expansion of meeting, incentive, conference and event (MICE) facilities.

Tassie Pure is able to cater from 2-2,000 orders and adapt to any desired specification, be it gluten-free sweets, lavender themed or other. Some of the items on offer are pillow gift, delegate satchel, presenter present, goodie bag, party prize, small keepsake and gourmet pack. Knowing well that conference guests are usually not swayed by elaborate packaging but more by quality and size (luggage space being at a premium), and in-line with the company’s own views on environmental conservation, Tassie Pure utilises an exclusive range of eco-packaging, in particular recycled paper bags and biodegradable boxes.

In close collaboration with 50 local Tasmanian producers, Tassie Pure has on offer over 300 locally made items, in particular organic and handmade ones. In the food category alone, that’s everything from leatherwood honey, cherry jam, wasabi, fudge and saffron to sea salt, truffles, olive oil and shortbread. Beyond gourmet food, the categories of beauty, wellness and lifestyle feature Huon Pine, merino wool, body lotion, candles, books, essential oils, jewellery, herbal tea, bath salts, soap, stationary, hand creams and more.

Tassie Pure is in partnership with many respected and award-winning luxury local brands, such as Tailored Tasmania, Wellington Apiary, Fudge A’Fare, 41° South, Merino Wild, Tamar Valley Truffles, Lean-To Kitchen, Port Arthur Lavender, Tasman Sea Salt, Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company, Tas-Saff, Hillwood Berry Farm, Red Kellys and Embalm Skincare.

Not content to only service the business sector – conferences, meetings, seminars, trade show, staff parties, team buildings – Tassie Pure is also positioning itself to be the go-to vendor for weddings and private functions as well. The company’s diverse range of products is particularly well suited to any special occasion requiring a small favour or memento.

Tassie Pure is the initiative of Candice Rafferty, a local techie and locavore with over 15 years’ work experience in Australia and Asia in the areas of hospitality, tourism, digital marketing, communications, public relations and social media.

“For me, Tassie Pure is the perfect amalgamation of all my passions. I get to combine a love of innovation with promoting my island and supporting the local community,” Candice says.

“We offer a bespoke service that best services the needs of our diverse clients. We know one size does not fit all, and that’s why we work closely with each organiser and/or venue to design the perfect gift set for every event. We enable hosts to save valuable time, effort and money and support Tasmania’s thriving small business scene in the process.”

About Tasmania:
Tassie is a small cool-climate island-state (about the size of Ireland) off the south coast of mainland Australia, renowned for its rugged wilderness, fresh air, clean water and organic local produce. It has a population of just over half a million and 20% of it is World Heritage listed wilderness, including such famous regions as Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair, Freycinet and the Tarkine. Tasmania is perhaps most famous for its unique indigenous offerings, such as the Tasmanian Devil, Tasmanian Tiger, leatherwood honey and Huon Pine.

In recent years, Tasmania has become Australia’s most popular tourism destination for domestic and international visitors. In 2015 alone, 197,100 overseas visitors came to Tasmania, an increase of 11 per cent over the previous year and above the national average of 9 per cent. At the 2015 Australia Tourism Awards, gold medals were given to Bruny Island Cruises and The Tasmanian Walking Company in the categories of Tourist Attraction and Ecotourism respectively. And the prestigious global magazine Travel+Leisure recently voted Tasmania the Best Island Destination in the region, calling it a “little unknown treasure”.

About Candice Rafferty:
Candice was born and raised in Hobart and is a proud Tasmanian. After completing her graduate studies in communications, Chinese language and culture at the University of Melbourne, she left Australia to study and work in China for 6 years in various government, tourism and media sectors, before moving to Thailand for 7 years to work with the internationally renowned French hotel group Accor as their social media guru for Asia-Pacific. After identifying a strong international and local need to better promote and sell Tasmanian goods, she launched her enterprise in early 2016. She now divides her time between the Apple Isle and travelling to the Mainland and abroad to spread the good word about Tassie.
