Cloud computing refers to delivering the computing services over the internet. These services are servers, storage, networking, software, etc. Cloud providers are the companies which render the service for a price, similar to any other utility services.

What Can You Do With Cloud?

Well if you have been using an online CRM, office application, playing games, etc. it is entirely possible that you might be using the services of cloud computing behind the scenes. Although cloud came into existence lately, yet it is being used by global corporations, government agencies, and many other organizations.  There are many things you can do with a cloud; you can create new kind of applications and services, store, back-up, and recover data. You can host your websites and blogs, stream video, and even deliver software services on demand without thinking much about cloud computing security.

IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS

The various cloud computing fall into three broad categories:

  • IaaS, Infrastructure as a Service
  • PaaS, Platform as a Service
  • SaaS, Software as a Service

Infrastructure as a Service

It is the simplest form in which you rent the IT infrastructure from a cloud provider.

Platform as a Service

It refers to cloud computing services that provide an on-demand environment for developing applications. It creates an environment in which developer don’t have to think about underlying computing requirements.

Software as a Service

It is a method for delivering software application on the internet. The service is a subscription service chargeable on an hourly, daily or monthly basis.

Various Kinds Of Cloud Deployment

Public, Private & Hybrid these are three different ways to deploy cloud computing resources. Let’s take a look at them one by one.

Public Cloud

They are owned and operated by a third party service provider, which deliver the computing resources over the internet. You access the services using a web browser.

Private Cloud

It refers to cloud computing resources used exclusively by a single business or organization. It is usually located on the company’s datacenter. It is the one in which the services and infrastructure are hosted on the private network.

Hybrid Cloud

They are a combination of private and public clouds which are bound together by technology that will allow easy sharing of data and application. This kind of cloud hosting gives you more flexibility and even more deployment options, and the cloud computing security isn’t much of an issue.

Working of Cloud Computing

Most of the cloud computing services work a little differently, but many of them will provide you with a browser-based dashboard that makes it easier for the professionals and developers to buy computing resources. It also gives them the flexibility to manage their accounts. Then there are clouds which can work with REST APIs and a command-line interface.

Why Go For Cloud Computing?

Traditional businesses have a new way to manage their IT needs. There are many advantages associated with cloud computing, let’s take a look at them one by one:

Reduced Cost

With cloud computing, you can do away with capital expenditure of buying expensive hardware and software and setting up and running on-site data centers. There is no need of renting office space to keep the server racks and the constant need for electricity to power on and cooling and maintain large IT teams to look after it.

Quick Deployment

Time to deploy vast amount of computing resources is very less. It helps business in tackling scale-up and scale-down of IT operations.

Easy To Deploy Across The Globe

Multinational organizations face many challenges in expanding in the areas where creating IT infrastructure is difficult.

Performance

As cloud service provider host many clients, they regularly upgraded the underlying hardware which significantly improves the performance.

Thus cloud computing helps in streamlining the IT operations, and cloud computing security issues are lesser than traditional infrastructure solutions.
