Whether you want to catch up or just enjoy quiet time alone, you have to invest in the best fishing gear. This is more so when it comes to the fishing backpack and the tackle box. The wrong equipment will make your experience unexciting. This post mainly looks at the tackle box. What should you have in this box?
Extra line
There is nothing worse than your only line getting broken. This means you will not be able to use it again. If you don’t have a spare line, your fishing expedition will come to an abrupt end. It is very important to have a few extra lines in the tackle box before leaving. The type of line you buy will depend on the fishing conditions. For the rough conditions, you will need a heavier and durable fishing line. Such a line will have lower chances of breakage. Even for heavy duty lines, you have to pack several lines in your tackle box.

Extra hooks
Another thing you cannot do without when out fishing is the hook. Your tackle box should be stocked with a wide range of hooks. That way, you will be able to change hooks for different types of fish. The hooks you stock must be in different sizes. Different fish require different hooks. For example, you cannot fish for river trout using a hook designed for the 120 pound catfish. Your tackle box backpack should have hooks from the smallest which is number 32 to the largest which is 19/0.
Floaters
These are also referred to as bobbers. The purpose of the floaters is to help you know when you are getting bites from fish. The floater will sink when the fish bites on your bait. When this happens, it is time to reel the catch in. The round white and red plastic floaters are the most common. Again, your tackle box needs to have several bobbers. That way, you will have a backup in case you lose any of the bobbers.
Sinkers
A worm and hook are too light to sink. If they don’t sink deeply, the fish will not see it quickly. You might have to wait much longer for your line to catch anything. That is why you need to include sinkers in your tackle box. The sinkers are attached to the fishing rig. You should be prepared to lose sinkers. Make sure you stock up before heading out.
Plastic worms
The use of live bait is great. However, it doesn’t harm to have a few plastic worms in your tackle box. These worms are available in many colors and sizes. Go for the plastic worms that have long tails. They are much easier to use.
The above items are all must-haves in your tackle box. Other things you should include are lures, needle nose pliers, a small first aid kit, sunscreen, and line cutter. Always have some backup. Don’t carry just one of each item.
