Seoul is the capital city of South Korea, one of the most amazing countries in the world. It’s a very unique country in that it has two very distinct personalities. Half of the country is picturesque countryside with ancient Buddhist temples, while the other half is futuristic looking cities like Seoul. If you’re going to travel to South Korea, Seoul is a good entry point for first time visitors. Here is a guide that tells you everything you need to know about visiting Seoul.

When To Go

The seasons in South Korea are very distinct and give the country a different feel at certain times of year. The spring is one of the most popular times to go because the countryside around Seoul is covered in a vibrant pink from the cherry blossoms on the trees. The autumn is a beautiful time to go as well, because the entire landscape is a fiery red. You should probably avoid going in the summer, because the weather is incredibly humid and it rains a lot. It’s also way more expensive to go in the summer than any other time of year.

Where To Stay

There is a big range of places to stay, depending on how much you want to spend and what kind of amenities you need. THE PLAZA Seoul is the best place to stay if you’re looking for luxury. This beautiful 5 star hotel is set right in the middle of the bustling business district right in the heart of the city. You’re equidistant to all of the great things that the city has to offer so it’s the perfect location to stay while you’re visiting Seoul.

How To Get Around

The public transport in Seoul is excellent, so the best way to get from the airport to the city and get around while you’re there is the bus or the train. It’s cheap and they run regularly. Taxis are another easy way to get around but be advised that they’re pretty expensive in Seoul.

Things To Do

Seoul is a bustling city with all sorts of amazing things to see and do. You’ll be spoilt for choice and you probably won’t be able to see everything in one trip so you should try to hit some of these highlights.

The changing of the guards at the Changdeokgung and Gyeongbokgung Palaces is one of the most iconic tourist attractions in Seoul. These incredible palaces, one of which is a UNESCO heritage site, are a sight worth seeing at any time of day but if you go at the right time, you can see the impressive changing of the guards ceremony.

It is so modern compared with the rest of South Korea but you can still find some of the traditions in Bukchon Hanok Village. This little village with winding streets and traditional Korean houses is a great hidden gem inside the bustling city and it’s a great learning experience as well.

The best way to see this amazing city is to head over the tower in North Seoul and climb up to the top. The views from up there are truly amazing.

Now you know everything you need for an amazing trip to Seoul.
