The New York Times “must visit places in 2011” is out.

Our team agrees with their top destination, Ko Samui in Thailand.

Over a decade ago, Team Hill visited Ko Samui to walk the miles of white sandy beaches,  and enjoy traditional Thai dishes, especially at Poppies. One of our treats was a  deep and soothing Thai beach massage at a value price.

Now there are more than a smattering of Luxury Hotels on Thailand’s third largest island. W Hotels opened the W Retreat on Ko Samui in November.

I will be in Bangkok and on Phuket next month, with a slight chance of a visit from Maralyn and Norm after their Australian adventure.

Other beach destinations recommended by the Times are Loreto, Mexico, and Oualidia, Morocco.
