For those who know me, they know I’ve always been proud to be an American. Even though I’ve always been an “Independent,” I tend to be socially liberal and economically conservative. However, it todays world, I can’t understand how we as a country cannot wish to provide health care, when all other major countries of the world that are not in economic crisis do and do a fine job (like Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Israel, etc.). I think it is fine to have supplemental insurance–great. But basic coverage is needed.
Defunding the part of the government that checks election fraud is downright scary as well a many other agencies that are just going away.
As a journalist, I am aghast at the attack of the press. I agree that much of what is said may sting, but what is new? Politicians have always had to answer to the press and the American people. Why shouldn’t they have to answer tough questions. I think the press is doing a good job. It frightens me to see and hear people wanting to shut it down. That is downright scary. I have always believed in listening to BOTH sides.
I would like to see Congress work together to get things done. That seems to be asking too much. On this July 4th, lets remember that we are the land of the free and hove of the brave and we need to fight to stay that way. It is not something we should give up.
