On a hot day, after moving, I came up with this refreshing spritzer.
Cocktail sherry was popular in the 60s. I still enjoy a glass of sherry before dinner, especially if using sherry in a recipe.
The Hill team often turns a pool party cocktail into a spritzer.
They stay cooler and you can enjoy having more than one.
Lemon-Sherry Spritzer
Ingredients
Ice in a tall glass
Medium-dry sherry, about 1/3 cup
Sparkling water, about 1/3 cup
Juice from one lemon or about 1/3 cup of lemonade
Honey or fine sugar to taste -optional
Lemon wheel garnish-optional
Method
Pour sherry over ice until almost half full
Add sparking water and lemonade to taste.
Tips
Add honey or fine sugar, if you like a sweeter cocktail.
If all ingredients are cold, you could skip the ice and pour ingredients into a tall flute glass.
You could substitute sparkling wine for the sparkling water to serve a festive champagne cocktail.
I enjoyed this simple summer sipper with deviled eggs topped with lemon and orang zest. A seafood salad made this a light and lemony supper.
