First and foremost, I along with the team of contributors of Where and What in the World would like to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. Even if you do not live in the United States, please share with us this day when our hard work has allowed us to celebrate what we have, whether that be health, love, family, or sufficient food to provide a feast.
This year, I’ve made a conscious decision to invite many guest contributors to send in posts and encourage sharing via our submissions page: https://whereandwhatintheworld.com/submissions. I know so many of you have wonderful travel and food experiences and I’m eager to give you the opportunity to share your finds with our readers. If this can encourage you to write your first book, start your own blog, or simply share an occasional good story or tale, you are welcome. We do ask that you proof read and use the submission page. It will also allow you to upload up to three jpg photos to be inserted. Be sure to indicate who gets credit for the photos. In the last paragraph, please be sure to include a brief bio with a link as to how people may see your website or contact you.
I’ve a great deal to be thankful for this year. My family is primary, as they are my highest priority. I’m grateful that everyone is doing well and that next year at this time, I will be a great-grandmother.
Many of you know how much I’ve been involved with the International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association. This next year will be my last year of eight serving on the board, four of them as president. I’m so proud of how far the association has come and prouder more of the wonderful board of directors we have to carry the association forward.
Since I don’t seem to not get involved, my next exciting project is Luxe Beat Magazine. We just launched this week online and at the International Emmys on November 25th. Sherrie Wilkolaski and I were brainstorming and we decided we could do this. Fortunately, we gathered a great team behind us to make it happen. So if you want to read about where quality meets luxury, check us out at www.LuxeBeatMag.com. We also have a Facebook page at Luxe Beat Magazine and Twitter @LuxeBeatMag. We can use all the likes and tweets we can get.
Turkey Plan Over
Now, for those of you who have a lot of turkey left over today, we have a tasty solution. Two weeks ago, we were in Jacksonville, Florida and fortunate enough to be hosted for breakfast at the Metro Diner owned by Mark Travola and his father. This family establishment has expanded to four locations and the food is just plain good. For the rest of November and December they have a new special, a waffle made of stuffing/dressing covered with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and some cranberries. Our taste that we shared could have easily feed four but it is a fantastic idea and treat.
It would be easier to do this from scratch substituting the dressing crumbs instead of the flour base, but if you were going to try leftover dressing, you may have to add some chicken or turkey broth and an egg or two beaten into it to make it a batter for the waffle iron. In any case, it is worth trying.
