It is no surprise that Australia’s wide open spaces have been attracting travellers who are searching for an adventurous experience. Some prefer to visit the south-east coast which is densely populated. However, Australia boasts of more wonderful places to explore. Whether you’re exploring the country by land, water or air, exploring this island would definitely be an amazing experience for you.
Explore Australia by Land
If you love being one with nature and trekking, you should wear your hiking boots and explore the Scenic Rim Trail. There are guided tours which can help you cover three summits in Queensland within four days. If you’re more of a wilderness explorer, then you should consider the six-day, 100-mile trek from Cradle Mountain to Lake St. Clair in Tasmania.
If you want a more relaxed way to explore the Outback, then you should hop on the Indian Pacific or The Ghan trains. Enjoy the wonderful views as you travel from Darwin to Adelaide. If you want to explore Australia at a slower pace, why don’t you try the camel tour around Uluru and Alice Springs, or enjoy the sunset along Cable Beach in Broome?
You can also try taking a road trip along the coast from Melbourne to Sydney. Don’t forget to get a custom roof rack so you will have room to place your bikes or surfboards. Stop by the beautiful seaside towns, pristine beaches and national parks so that you can truly experience the Outback life.
Another option you can take is renting a campervan. It is worth noting that Australia is impressive and large in its scale. So, if you want a longer haul, a campervan with a custom roof rack is definitely the best option. You can have an interesting road trip across the wide open plains of Australia and discover roads that connect some of the incredible sites across the country.
The great thing about renting a campervan is that it also covers your accommodation costs. It is also worth mentioning that there are a lot of campervan sites across the country so it would be easy for you to make a stop and take a rest.
These days, renting a campervan has been quite popular across Australia. That is why it would not be difficult for you to find one that is suitable for your specific needs. There are companies which offer campervans for couples as well as three or four berth vehicles. When you plan to travel across Australia, a campervan is definitely a great and economical way of exploring the country.
Explore Australia by Water
The undulating hills and spectacular wilderness are just a fraction of what you can enjoy in Australia. The waterways of the country are rich in wildlife, inviting you to an exciting adventure. Have a leisurely canoe trip along lush forests and jagged cliffs. You can also go to the Northern Territory and take and airboat tour of the floodplain wetlands of Mary River. Don’t forget to bring your camera in case you spot exotic birds, or even, crocs!
If you want a close encounter with marine animals, then the best option for you is to take the plunge. Go swimming with humpback whales and whale sharks in Ningaloo or play with sea lions in the waters of Port Lincoln. If you’re more of a daredevil, then you should go to Darwin and try cage-diving with saltwater crocs!
Experience life at sea by taking a yacht or boat tour from Port Douglas to the Low Isles. Doing so will also give you the chance to snorkel around the remarkable corals of the Great Barrier Reef. If you’re in Sydney, you can also rent a sailboat and just enjoy the ocean breeze while admiring the city from your vessel.
Explore Australia by Air
It is true that taking a plunge lets you interact with a wide array of marine animals and spectacular corals in the Great Barrier Reef. However, another way to appreciate its beauty is by exploring it from a bird’s eye view. There are seaplane or chopper tours that will let you fly over this UNESCO World Heritage site. Make sure you watch out for rays, dolphins or sharks!
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, then you should try tandem skydiving from a plane in Cairns. While you plummet from the sky, you will enjoy the stunning views of the reef as well as the Daintree Rainforest.
Want an extraordinary view of some of the most spectacular landscapes of Australia? Well, you should take a thrilling zip-line ride through the Daintree Rainforest. Try abseiling down the steep rocky walls of Kalbarri National Park or even down the Gordon Dam in Tasmania. You can also peacefully glide over the Hunter or Yarra Valleys on a hot-air balloon. Don’t forget to bring your camera as you enjoy your glass of wine while watching the stunning vineyard views.
Whether you are at land, sea or sky, there are so many wonderful and exciting things you can experience in Australia. Do not forget to have this travel guide handy once you’re ready to start exploring!
