You might be a drumming pro or a beginner in search of a new sound. Electronic drum sets are versatile, and they open up a world of new possibilities to all musicians and composers. Buying an electronic drum set was one of the best decisions you have taken in the recent times, for sure!

Just like all other musical instruments, drums need a lot of care and maintenance, but you know that already. Having a new set of electronic drums can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to setups, transport, and maintenance. So, here is a comprehensive guide that will help you keep your new drum set in shape for a long time.

How to clean electronic drum sets?

Taking care of your new e-drums can be a little different from taking care of a regular drum set. Here’s what you have to do –

  • Clean the module with a soft and dry cloth only. Do not let moisture build up on the module.
  • If you have recalcitrant grime or stains on your module, use a slightly damp cloth. Do not use industrial cleaners, OTC cleaners or soapy cloth.
  • Avoid using alcohol and thinners on your module, if you want them to remain new.
  • Never place vinyl objects on top of the module. This can permanently discolor the module.

The electronic drum set contains a lot of electrical wiring and connections. If you think there is something wrong with the wiring, take it to the service center. Do not attempt to fix it yourself by opening the module. Check out the best electronic drum sets for regular use at the Luisaph Drum website.

How to carefully transport and move the electronic module without incurring damage?

Just like any other instrument, you need to be extremely careful. Unlike the old school drum sets, which take up a lot of space, the new-age electrical kits are lighter, and they take up a lot lesser space. They also support faster assembly and therefore are the traveling musician’s best friends –

  • Do not pull on the cable while unplugging the module. Grip the plug firmly and tug.
  • Do not drop, knock or bump your module. Do not place heavy things on the module. This can cause serious damage, and the module can acquire scratches.
  • Disconnect all cables before moving your kit. This will prevent undue strain on the connections.
  • Do not apply excessive stress to the connectors and controls. Always handle the modules gently.

What brushes are alright for electronic drum sets?

You can use regular sticks. Both nylon tips and woodwork fine, as long as they are from reputed brands. Check out the review of reliable sticks that work on V-pads and V-Cymbals before beating away. You can also use brushes as long as you have a “Brushes” setting on your module. This will make your new drum set more sensitive to each slap and swish. As long as they are nylon and not wire brushes, you can swing away to glory!

A great electronic drum set can be an asset for a professional and an excellent guide for a new musician. You can easily upgrade and modify old electronic drum kits. That is why it is essential to follow each cleaning and maintenance step by heart to preserve the exceptional quality of sound and service from the beginning.
