One can always expect crowded airports and delayed flights as everyone rushes to get back to their hometown for Thanksgiving. Looking at hundreds of thousands of flights from 2016, AirHelp pulled data on Thanksgiving travel trends to help inform what we can expect for travel this busy time of year. Some of the findings include:

  • Most disrupted routes:
    • San Francisco to Los Angeles (34.6%)
    • Los Angeles to San Francisco (30%)
    • New York to Chicago (17.5%)
    • Chicago to New York (34.08%)
    • Los Angeles to Las Vegas (22.7%)
  • The Sunday after Thanksgiving are the busiest days to fly
  • Airports with the most disruptions on November 18
    • Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (57.3%)
    • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (34.1%)
    • O’Hare International Airport (24.2%)
    • Denver International Airport (30.5%)
    • Los Angeles International Airport (22.2%)
