Scotland is a nation rich in history and natural beauty. It is a country that contains some of the world’s most amazing scenery and, as the place which gave us the sport of golf, is home to some of the most outstanding golf courses on the planet. Scotland is very much a country which has something to offer for people of all interests.
Did you know that, in 2014, Scotland welcomed more than 15 million visitors, who contributed a total of £4.7 billion to its economy? Also, Scotland’s 500 golf courses – amongst them the world famous St. Andrew’s and Carnoustie – accounted for more than £220 million worth of income to the country, while its 50 whiskey distilleries draw more than 1.3 million tourists each year.
This infographic by Links Golf Ireland (http://www.linksgolf-ireland.com/) highlights some of the reasons why Scotland is one of the richest tourist havens on offer across the world. It not only features world-renowned golf courses and whiskey distilleries steeped in history; it also plays host to a variety of colorful festivals and beautiful castles. Scotland really is a country that should be on the bucket list of any serious, or even casual, worldwide explorer.
