The hormone that facilitates ovulation and ensures nutrition is supplied to the fetus – Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, often referred to as “the pregnancy hormone” is now being used as a weight loss stimulator. The hormone as a weight loss product is synthesized from genetically modified cells in cultures with the help of recombinant DNA technology or from the external fluids of pregnant women. It is available in the form of drops and injections; however there is a great deal of variation amongst different products of HCG due to the rampant usage of the product. One has to be careful while selecting the form, as some of the forms claim better results but only show empty hands afterwards. Here are the three forms of HCG available in the market:

HCG injections

The use of HCG for weight loss originated from Dr. Albert T. W. Simeons. He developed a diet plan to ensure that the hormonal effects of HCG work well within the body and fat loss is achievable. He used injections for his practice and the hormone was injected intramuscularly. The practice is continued till date and it requires medical attention.

Sometimes, the injections are given with the addition of Vitamin B12 so that the process can quicken. Moreover, this is a gesture to ensure the hormone acts only on the abnormal fat cells accumulated in the body and in no way affect the tissues of the muscle. Further, the low calorie diet forces the body to make avail of the nutrition available through the fat stores so that weight loss is observed. The diet plan is common to all forms of HCG and the plan varies in recipes based on the fat loss requirement of an individual. However, it usually contains a restricted diet of 500-800 calories per day.

Pharmaceutical HCG drops

This inexpensive and easy way of taking the hormone is the most considered option. These are sublingual hcg drops that need to be dropped under the tongue for few minutes and they go into the body by the absorption of the skin. As they are indirectly penetrating into the fat cells, the dose has to be more and it can be uncomfortable taking them orally.

As the product is medical-grade it works remarkably well for people who want to slice out a lot of pounds. Interestingly, the hormone works well for people with higher body fat and enables them to get them back on track.

HCG drops are generally available in the form of “Do It Yourself” powders or pre-evaluated liquids. For DIY powders, the individual is required to mix the powder based on medical advice in a solvent (generally water) and use it accordingly. The solution has to be homogenous and according to the suggestion of the doctor as excess hormonal ingestion can cause side effects. The liquids have a clear percentage of hormonal levels so it is easy to determine how many drops one can take for their respective diet plan.

Homeopathic HCG drops

The controversial form of HCG with minimum percentage of the hormone present in it. It is taken in the same way as to that of the pharmaceutical HCG drops. The only advantage is that they come in pre-mixed bottles for easy administration. In addition, it comes at a very low price in comparison to the two pharmaceutically developed forms.

The homeopathic manufacturing of any medicine involves a dilution process. It is the same in the case of HCG as well; the hormone is diluted in water to a minimum level so that only traces can be found. It is true that some of the homeopathic medicines are effective in curing medical conditions, but the homeopathic HCG has no clinical evidence for producing positive results. The slight weight reduction observed in people using this form is mainly because of the additional supplements such as metabolic booster, lipotropics etc. added and the diet plan with chance of minimal food intake.

Other forms

Apart from the major forms available the hormone is produced in different useless forms such as pills, pellets, creams, etc. which are only a way to lure the obese individuals into paying money. The results are not good using these other forms and one need not consider buying them for weight loss.

Which one to consider?

One has to remember before selecting HCG diet plan that this is an alternative treatment to obesity and requires professional advice. After understanding the process completely, one should select the form. The homeopathic version is good for those with small weight loss goals, whereas the other two are good for higher weight loss goals. If an individual is comfortable with repeated needle insertion for a period of 30 days, HCG injections are the best choice as they act quickly. For individuals with the fear of needles can select pharmaceutically developed HCG drops for the best results. However, it is clear that if the plan is not followed properly there is no use in taking in the hormone.
