Texas is the second biggest state in the US, with a population of about 29 million. Located in the South Central Region of the US, it’s a great location but means that it’s not somewhere that people visit as often as somewhere easily accessible on the coast, like New York or California.
However, Texas is an underrated state with plenty of things to do and see. It’s family friendly and would be a great place to settle down. Here are some reasons you should consider moving to Texas.
Economy
The Texas economy is booming. It’s known for developing family friendly businesses which are reflective of American ideals. It’s a great place to be an engineer or work in production or manufacturing, with plenty of jobs in those areas. Farming, steel banking and tourism are also popular. There are also plenty of lawyers. This means that, if you were to get into an accident, you would feel confident in finding a local lawyer (phone and speak to a personal injury attorney in Texas here).
Food
Texas has plenty of great food options. It’s known for the Texas BBQ, which will make your mouth water throughout the summer. Being on the border of Mexico, with plenty of people of Mexican origin living in Texas, it welcomes Mexican cuisine and has plenty of delicious Mexican restaurants to visit (there’s a reason it’s called Tex-Mex!) Texas is also home to the famous and beloved drink Dr Pepper – useful for when the weather gets hot and you need to quench your thirst.
Education
Texas is known for its excellent educational establishments. Public schools are rated highly, meaning that students from all backgrounds can get a good education. It’s also home of Rice University, which has a 93% graduation rate and is viewed as better than many Ivy League establishments.
House prices
We all want to live in a nice house that we can afford. Texas is popular for its variety of suburban, family-friendly neighborhoods which have affordable houses. Why is this? Texas is a large state with plenty of land to go around, making it cheaper. So, if you’re looking for a large family home in a good neighborhood, Texas might be the place for you.
History and culture
Texas is a fascinating state which is rife with history and culture. It has a history of ranching and cowboy cultures, and the Texas Folklore Society is the oldest folklore organization in the US. It’s known for its fairs and town gatherings with quirky stalls and events that celebrate the history of the state. Dallas also saw one of the most famous events of history unfold in 1963, when President Kennedy was assassinated while traveling through.
