Yes, you can grill lettuce.

I learned this from an old Southern Living magazine.

Grilled Lettuce

Crisp Romaine works best.

Cut lettuce in half lenght-wise.
Leave the core on to hold leaves together.
Place on a cold, well oiled grill or grate cut side down.
Grill a few minutes, until wilted with grill lines.

Lift the lettuce off the grill carefully with wide tongs.

Serve cut side up.
Add a drizzle of your favorie dressing.
I like a ranch style. Or, shave Parmesan on warm lettuce, add salt and pepper, and serve as a side or salad.
